Canyon Alia Tucker

I grew up in a geographically challenging area of SW Colorado. Playing competitive soccer required enormous amounts of travel, time, & dedication. I made the difficult decision my Freshman year to live with a host family in Denver so I could play at a higher level. This was one of the best decisions I made despite leaving my family, friends, & familiar surroundings. This non-traditional experience of a high schooler has allowed me to grow as a player & person from managing my time with school, sports, & travel & continuously being pushed outside of my comfort zone. I have successfully managed the hard decisions of being away from my family & friends in order to focus on a dream that I work at everyday to achieve. The sacrifices of this has made me face hard realities but made my desires & drive that much stronger. In my free time, I love to be outside hiking, backpacking, whitewater paddling, camping, & being in the mountains or at the beach with family & friends. I would ultimately like to play at the DI level to best match my abilities. As this is a big piece, academics is also an important focus in order to prepare myself for future endeavours. I am interested in architecture, engineering, law, journalism or education.
