Caroline (Cara) Alvarez

I'm Cara Alvarez, a Class of 2028 goalkeeper from East Syracuse, N.Y., and a 4.0 student at East Syracuse Minoa Central High School (ESM), where I am a multi-sport varsity athlete. I am starting goalkeeper for ESM Girls Varsity Soccer (Section III Class AA) and helped lead the Spartans to a 17–2 season this fall, earning SCAC Empire Division 2nd Team All-League Goalkeeper after allowing just 8 goals all season. I play club soccer for New York Rush Select Girls 2010 (DPL) as the team’s starting goalkeeper, gaining high-level showcase and regional tournament experience. I am told I have a calm, confident presence in the net, good communication, and composure under pressure. I have additionally competed with Northeast Rush Select Girls 2010 and traveled to Finland with Northeast Rush Girls 2009-2010 in the summer of 2024, where we won the Helsinki Cup Group B Girls U15 championship. I also served as GK for Rush South Select Girls 2010 at the International Rush Cup in the fall of 2024. A dedicated student-athlete, I also play varsity basketball and lacrosse at ESM and am interested in pursuing opportunities to play college soccer while continuing to grow as a leader on and off the field. My potential academic interests include athletic training, sports, and nutrition, but at this time, I am still undecided on what I'd like to study after graduating from high school. I am on track to earn an associate's degree in arts & sciences from Onondaga Community College through ESM's Spartan Academy High School College Program when I graduate from high school in June 2028.
