Cristian Habiniak

Jay Brennan - Notre Dame High School Coach ( email: jbrennan@notredamehs.com, phone: 2038237785, relationship: Coach): Criatian Habiniak Rating 1-5 Speed / Quickness 5 Agility 5 Technical Skill 4 Sportsmanship / Attitude 5 Teamwork / Game Concept 5 Aggressiveness 5 Coachability 5 Leadership 4 Self-Confidence 5 Mental Toughness 5 Notes: Cristian was a pleasure to coach all season. No matter what level he was playing on, he always brought the same agressiveness and confidence. I was a big believer in C since day-one, ever since the first scrimmage at Hopkins I knew he was going to be a major part of these program, not only this year but for the next four years. I was the first member of the coaching staff to say that he needs to be competing at the varsity level, but the only setback for that was the amount of numbers and quality that the varsity had in the attacking third. Like I told all the freshmen that wanted to be on varsity since the beginning, this journey is a marathon not a sprint, your time will come. It might be this season or next season, but all you can do is focus on what you can control and that is performing at a high level in F and JV games. He was great captain throughout the season, keeping his teammates accountable and humble through the journey. In the second half of the season, some players were getting complacent becuse of our excellent record and were not thinking they needed to train as hard to get the results neeeded. I sat all the captains down and told them, that it can't just come from me to keep you guys motivated, it needs to start with you guys on and off the field. You guys need to play like we haven't won a game, can't have the mindset that there are easy games. C relayed the message and made since that his level of intensity was there to be shown everyday. The only side of Cristian's game that I needed him to work on throughout the season was his ability to not retaliate and keep a cool head. I know this is an extremely tough thing to do, wether your a highschool player or a professional, the emotions of the game is high. As he is a great player, other teams would start to play extremely physical with him, sometimes even dirty, to try to throw him off of his game. Realistially he would be getting fouled 20+ times a game, but these referees would not give him any calls, and then C would retaliate the next play and get called for a foul himself with getting a yellow card often on those types of sequences. Ross Peebles-Brown MSC ( email: ross.peebles-brown@northeastrush.com, phone: 2037510586, relationship: Coach): Cristian remains a key player and one who consistently demonstrates strong
potential and quality within this age group and competiton.
While it has been a challenging season for the team, specifically, from an
individual growth and skill acquisition perspective I believe it has remained a
positive one for Cristian.
From a soccer perspective he continues to excel in attacking moments.
Specifically 1v1 and small sided duals, providing support in the attacking
moments of the game.
He has an outstanding work rate and consistently shows a willingness to
improve and drive his team forward.
KEY STRENGTHS
Speed and ability to win 1v1 and small sided duals remains a key strength. Continues to
demonstrate strong ability in this area and can consistently contribute with crossing variety
and connect with team-mates in the attacking third. He is a real threat to opposition
defenses and has significant quality in attacking & in possession moments.
Physically sound and is among a core group who can compete for the entirety of the game,
maintaining maximum performance levels for extended periods. Has shown that he can
contribute and excel within a range of positions. His strongest position, I feel, is the one
where he occupies space wide. Although this season I believe that the deficiencies we have
had within the team centrally, the technique and quality Cristian has is of more benefit in
the field allowing the team to have more control.
Having the ability to play deeper as a full back as added to his versatility. The defensive
qualities developed in these moments are transferable to pressing and counter pressing
where Cristian is very strong.
OPPORTUNITIES
For such a key an important player, he is very quiet. Being able to integrate his positive
personality more consistently on the field would add value. I also feel at times he is
almost always going as fast as he can. This can be useful and can be effective but
adding that ability to control possession and keepthe ball then changing speed at
certain times would also be beneficial.
