Dominic Wentorf

Cameron Pope ( email: cameron.pope@rusd.org, phone: (414) 213-6727, relationship: Coach): I have taught thousands of teenagers. I have coached hundreds more. Dom Wentorf’s comprehensive character attributes are among the best of the best.

I’ve known Dom for two years now. Since joining our team his freshman season, his consistency, commitment, and leadership have completely transformed the competitive trajectory of our soccer program.

He is a leader by example - always present, always working, always contributing. It is atypical for me to select a sophomore as team captain, but with Dom, there was no debate. His unparalleled reliability and composure (not to mention athleticism), demanded that I elevate him into a leadership role, and he has surpassed every expectation.

He demonstrated the initiative to organize pre-season captains practices. He consistently communicated with his team before and during the season to promote team expectations and unity. I would often solicit his feedback for game tactics because of his insights and uncommonly cerebral understanding of game dynamics.

The impact of Dom’s leadership is not limited to competitive results. In serving as a pillar of reliability for his team, Dom raised the levels of morale and self-discipline for his teammates, allowing them to develop similar positive attributes.

He also serves as a great example off the field. He has a 3.9 GPA, and has received numerous academic awards. Additionally, even though he is only a sophomore, the quality of his academic writing is college-ready.

I’m thrilled that our program will benefit from his leadership for two more seasons. I expect him to continue to leverage his strong work ethic to lead his team. More importantly, however, I am confident that he will continue to demonstrate and develop the characteristics that have made him such a valuable member of our program and a wonderful young man to know.
