About Katerina

My name is Katerina Christakis and I am a 2027 graduate playing varsity soccer at Columbia High School and Club soccer with Albany Rush. I want to play for a collegiate soccer program that will push me as a player and as a person and will continue to make my love for the game grow. I am looking to play at the highest level possible with strong competition.

I am strong and tall which helps me to keep a commanding presence on the field. I have good long balls and a strong right foot. I am fast so I am able to track down a ball that is played over me. I’ve been told by coaches I have a high soccer IQ. I can read the field. I play with composure and calmness as I work to get the ball up the field to my teammates.

I believe I am a prominent leader on the field – directing, coaching and supporting my teams to wins. I also strive to be a leader off the field, and was lucky enough to have been chosen for HOBY, a youth leadership program that I attended at the University at Albany. During the program I learned what it takes to be a strong leader and how to build strong connections. After this program, I have decided to start community service projects in my school and district to help those in need.

I love the game. That became even clearer to me when I tore my ACL in 2023. I had just made the varsity team as a freshman but was unable to play. This setback taught me many valuable lessons. It taught me about resilience and hard work. There were times that were extremely difficult but I was determined to come back better. Since my injury, I have only improved. I have gotten stronger and have improved my skills. This injury has also taught me to listen to my body and do everything I can to make sure it is as healthy as possible. While I was unable to play soccer, I was still around the game. I supported my team and teammates at games and tournaments. Despite not playing, I learned a lot about strategy and how teams need to work together. I also volunteered to coach a rec soccer team at my local club Greenbush SC.
