Homeschool 23-24 - Freshman
Year End Interview & Evaluation: Heather M Bang, B.S. in Ed.,May 2003; B.A. English December 2001 Bloomsburg University - “Lauryn’s freshman year included earning high school credits following the guidelines established by the Pennsylvania Homeschool Accreditation Agency (PHAA). In addition to her
academics, in which she excelled, Lauryn had to learn to prioritize her time between school, competitive soccer, (track) and her new horse, Maizey. Lauryn and her father built Maizey’s new barn from the ground up, and she was involved in every step. In addition to competitive soccer, where she travels (1hr 15m+) to Mechanicsburg 3 to 4 times per week, Lauryn also played soccer (and track) for her district’s high school team, earning two Varsity letters. Lauryn was also blessed to be able
to spend time traveling abroad to Amsterdam with her father, which was a great addition to her overall homeschool program (and attended a UEFA Nations League Match). Lauryn is a very responsible teenager. In addition to school, soccer, and her horse she also took over sole responsibility for her grandfather’s farm when he traveled. She attended church regularly, even taking her family’s golf cart when her parents were unable. She also mows grass at her family’s business and is very independent and self-motivated. She read 25 books including literary classics like The Scarlet Letter, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Her
compositions included report topics titled “Anne Frank,” “College Application,” and “Salvage.” She wrote a 2,500+ word research paper entitled “History of Rodeos.” Lauryn also gave a speech on the history of rodeo to fulfill her speech requirement. Lauryn is demonstrating sustained progress in the overall program.“
