About Michaela

Hi, my name is Michaela Abulencia, and I am a 2027 graduate of Yorktown High School in Yorktown Heights, New York. I have been a member of the 2009 Westchester Rush team in the DPL Northeast League since December 2023. I have also been a member of the JV soccer team for my high school for both my freshman and sophomore year. I play Goalkeeper, and have been playing that position since the sixth grade when I joined the Yorktown Travel Soccer Team.

What makes me unique as an athlete is my strong work ethic and ability to adapt to different situations on the field. Whether it be in a game, at practice, private goalkeeper sessions or training Cross Fit, I always push myself to be better. I’m also very coachable, and I believe in the importance of feedback to improve. My teammates would say that I help build a positive team culture. I bring both a high level of athleticism and a disciplined mindset, which I believe is a combination that allows me to constantly improve.

My main goal as an athlete is to continue developing my skills, both technically and mentally, and to contribute to a college team that values hard work, determination, and team-first mentality. I also aim to challenge myself at the collegiate level and to continue growing both on and off the field. Ultimately, I hope to help my team win championships and have a positive impact on the program's success.

I’m looking for a college where I can grow both academically and athletically, and where I can be part of a program that has strong values and a winning mentality. I want to be in an environment that pushes me to excel in both my sport and my studies, and where the coaches and team members share a commitment to hard work and success. I want to find a place where I can not only contribute but also develop as a leader and teammate.

I believe I can help your program by bringing a strong work ethic, dedication, and a positive mindset to the team. I am always eager to learn and adapt, and I believe that with the right guidance, I can contribute to the success of the program both now and in the future. My drive to improve and my focus on teamwork will allow me to add value to the team and continue developing as a reliable and skilled goalkeeper. Additionally, I know how to balance the demands of academics and athletics, which will allow me to fully commit to your program.
