I’ve now known Mia for the last 4 years. I was Mia’s soccer coach with the Delta Coastal Select’s at a Metro Level through 2019/20 Intake Season & half of the 2020/21 Season. I have watched her grow both as a person and an athlete. Mia always puts forth her best effort in all she does and works hard to meet any challenge she faces. Mia had shown exemplary leadership skills both on and off the field. Mia's integrity, work ethics and desire to be the best she can be, is admired by her teammates and coaches alike. She always ensures that her teammates feel welcome and valued. Mia leads by example; no matter what the score of the game is, she always has a smile on her face and is fundamental in creating a positive atmosphere among her teammates. Mia is a goal-orientated, dedicated and self motivated individual who is able to persevere through the tough situations, making her an outstanding performer under pressure. She is well respected by her teammates because of her unselfish attitude and ability to let other's shine. Mia demonstrates a high degree of commitment in all that she does and is fully committed to her soccer team. Mia’s ability to assume leadership skills when needed, coupled with her positive attitude and perseverance had a positive impact on our soccer team and I have no doubt that this will continue. I first met Mia when she was in Grade 8 at Earl Marriott Secondary. I have had the privilege of teaching Mia in both her P.E. 8 and P.E 10 classes. She was always a very pleasant, responsible, and polite student. Her athletic participation and performance in class was excellent. She understood the importance of teamwork and displayed great leadership and communication skills. Mia was an exceptional P.E student who always worked hard and displayed a positive attitude. She is also an outstanding soccer player, very coachable, and contributed greatly to the Earl Marriott soccer program. She was captain of the Jr. Soccer team and played a key role in the Senior team's success this year. During my teaching of Mia over the years, I have experienced an individual who is highly motivated, helpful, and coachable. Therefore, I truly recommend Mia for any post secondary soccer program.
