About Makayla

My name is Makayla Sellyei, class of 2026. I attend Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora, Colorado where I obtain a weighted 4.525 cumulative GPA. My goal is to play soccer at the collegiate level.
One thing about me is I will always work hard in everything I do, whether it's with school, extracurriculars, or soccer. In school, I always strive to do the best I can. This includes studying, focusing in class, and helping others around me. One academic goal I have is to be inducted into the National Honor Society, where I can volunteer and provide service to my community. As a former member of the National Junior Honors Society, I learned how important it is to volunteer your time to others. I have experience volunteering for a therapeutic horse ranch, where I took on responsibilities and endured challenging chores. Volunteering not only helps those around you but also allows you to experience different perspectives and take on new challenges. In addition to this, I am a volunteer tutor for my school and I support other students in whatever way they need. Tutoring has taught me how to be patient and has allowed me to meet many new people.
I have learned a lot of lessons from many in my life. Two role models I have are my parents, who have always taught me to work hard at what I need to do and work harder at what I love to do. These are two fundamental characteristics that will always guide me through any adversities I face. This includes both the educational and soccer environment. I have learned to trust the process and to only worry about what I can control.
